Once upon a time...

In Washington, D.C., Najwa Womack founded SiStained8 to make composting engaging and accessible. With a background in performing arts and international travel, she saw sustainability as a way to educate and inspire.

Our Story

Najwa earned her Master Urban Compost Certificate from DC’s Department of Parks & Recreation in 2018 and completed a 6-week compost training with LoopClosing. Featured on GWU’s Planet Forward, she now serves as an Advocate of Compost with the U.S. Composting Council to expand compost education.

SiStained8 is growing compost awareness through workshops, youth programs, and community outreach. Our mission is to make sustainability simple and accessible, empowering people to take action for a greener planet.
